How to Use This Timeline

This calendar covers every major recruiting date across football, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's track & field, and women's track & field for the 2026 recruiting cycle. Dates are based on current NCAA, NAIA, and JUCO rules, which can change. Always verify with your specific division and conference.

RawRecruit's seasonal banners and email nudges are powered by this calendar. When you see "Early Signing Period is in X days" on your dashboard, it's pulling from these exact dates.

Football Recruiting Calendar

Spring Evaluation Period (April 15 - May 31): Coaches can attend high school spring practices and evaluate. No off-campus contact with recruits. Key time for juniors to get noticed.

June Contact Period (June 1 - June 30): The busiest recruiting month. Coaches can have in-person contact with recruits. Campus camps and unofficial visits peak. Most FBS programs host prospect camps during this window.

Fall Evaluation (September - November): Coaches attend high school games. Official and unofficial visits during the season. Senior year performance evaluated in real-time.

Early Signing Period (December 3-5, 2026): FBS, FCS, D-II, and D-III. Three-day window where recruits can sign National Letters of Intent. The majority of FBS commitments sign during this period.

Transfer Portal Window 1 (December 9-28): FBS transfer portal entry window. Creates roster turnover that can open spots for high school recruits.

National Signing Day (February 4, 2027): Traditional signing day. Programs fill remaining roster spots. Strong opportunities still exist at FCS, D-II, NAIA, and JUCO levels.

Transfer Portal Window 2 (April 16-25, 2027): Second FBS portal window. Spring roster changes create late opportunities.

NAIA: Year-round signing. No restricted periods. NAIA coaches can contact recruits at any time.

JUCO: Signing periods vary by conference. Check with specific schools.

Basketball Recruiting Calendar (Men's & Women's)

AAU/Grassroots Season (March - July): The most critical evaluation period for basketball. D-I coaches attend Nike EYBL, Under Armour, Adidas events, and AAU nationals. This is where the majority of D-I basketball scholarships are decided.

Spring Evaluation/Live Periods (April): NCAA Live Periods. Coaches can observe but not have off-campus contact. High school and AAU games heavily scouted.

July Evaluation Period: Second major live period. AAU nationals, summer leagues. Many late-developing recruits receive their first D-I interest here.

Early Signing Period (November 12-19, 2026): Both men's and women's basketball. Most committed recruits sign during this window.

Late Signing Period (April 16 - May 21, 2027): Programs fill remaining spots post-transfer portal movement.

Transfer Portal Windows: March 24 - April 29 and August 1-15. Two entry windows that create significant roster turnover, especially in men's basketball.

Track & Field Recruiting Calendar (Men's & Women's)

Cross Country Season (September - November): Primary evaluation for distance runners. State championships, Nike/USATF meets, and regional invitationals are scouted. NCAA Cross Country Championships in November.

Indoor Season (December - March): Indoor marks establish early-season recruiting benchmarks. State indoor championships matter. NCAA Indoor Championships in March.

Outdoor Season (March - June): The primary recruiting season for all track events. State championships, conference championships, and national meets (Nike Outdoor Nationals, USATF Junior Olympics, New Balance Nationals) are the marquee evaluation events.

Early Signing Period (November 12-19, 2026): Track athletes with commitments sign here alongside basketball.

Late Signing Period (April 16 - August 1, 2027): Extended window, longer than basketball. Allows coaches to evaluate outdoor season performance before offering. Many track scholarships are offered and signed during this extended period.

Key recruiting events: State championships (indoor + outdoor), Nike/USATF Junior meets, New Balance Nationals, conference championships. Performance at these events directly drives recruiting offers.
