Women's Track & Field Recruiting

Women's track & field offers more scholarship opportunities than men's. D-I programs have 18 equivalencies compared to men's 12.6. Combined with Title IX compliance driving investment in women's programs, there are more opportunities than ever for female track athletes at every division level.

Like men's track, recruiting is performance-based. Your times, distances, and heights are your resume. RawRecruit matches track athletes to programs based on event performance, academic profile, and geographic/cultural fit.

Event-Specific Recruiting Standards

Sprints (100m, 200m, 400m): D-I standards: 11.5-12.0 (100m), 23.5-24.5 (200m), 53.0-56.0 (400m). D-II: add 0.5-1.0 seconds. Times continue to improve nationally each year.

Middle Distance (800m, 1500m): D-I: 2:05-2:12 (800m), 4:20-4:40 (1500m). Competitive events with strong depth nationally.

Distance (5000m, Cross Country): D-I: 16:00-17:00 (5K). Cross country performance is the primary evaluation tool for distance runners.

Hurdles (100mH, 400mH): D-I: 13.5-14.5 (100mH), 57.0-60.0 (400mH). Multi-event hurdlers are especially valued.

Jumps: D-I: 5'6"+ (HJ), 19'+ (LJ), 39'+ (TJ), 12'+ (PV). Technical progression is weighted heavily. Coaches recruit trajectory, not just current marks.

Throws: D-I: 45'+ (Shot), 150'+ (Disc), 165'+ (Hammer), 140'+ (Jav). Physical tools and coachability matter alongside current marks.

Scholarship Landscape

Women's track & field is one of the best-funded women's college sports due to Title IX. D-I programs offer 18 scholarship equivalencies, more than any other women's sport except rowing (20). This means more partial scholarships are available, and the total financial aid package can be substantial when combined with academic aid.

D-II offers 12.6 equivalencies for women's track. NAIA offers 12. D-III offers no athletic scholarships but many D-III schools provide generous academic and need-based packages.
