Many D-III schools are academically selective, and athletes are recruited and admitted as students first.
What GPA do you need for Division III sports?
There's no NCAA minimum GPA for D-III. Division III schools set their own admission standards, and from Fall 2026 incoming D-III athletes also register with the NCAA Eligibility Center. In practice the bar varies widely from school to school. Because there's no athletic scholarship to offset admissions, your transcript carries real weight.
Can you get financial aid without an athletic scholarship at Division III?
